Wow that month went quickly! January can sometimes be a bit dull and quiet, not at our building. It has all been go go go!
All the old has been removed and recycled where possible, we are keeping the signatures on the wall from the Kaiser Chiefs (Ian and I are both fans 😊) it will be visible for all on the reception wall. I was delighted the ceiling in our new reception could be raised up as the black wooden beams weren’t structural to the roof support.
Not so delighted to find out we needed to replace the roof above reception. However, this enabled us to replace the old, mismatched tiles, with grey ones, replicating the original slate roof and it looks amazing – every cloud has a silver lining! Can’t wait until the new porch is built to finish it off.
The large chimney up through the middle of the building has been removed to make more space for surgical theatre, treatment room and cat ward and the roof sealed up. Cat ward will be upstairs, away from the hustle and bustle of the practice, it will help to keep the cats calm and minimise any anxiety while they are with us.
In addition, Neil has been re-plumbing the entire building to keep us warm in winter and supply the many sinks a veterinary practice needs to keep everything clean and hygienic. While Graeme has been busy wiring here, there and everywhere for lights, power, internet, fire alarms, smoke detectors and CCTV (that’s approximately 1.5km of wiring!!).
What a great job everyone is doing. Thank you!
Hi Sarah,
What a fantastic transformation you’re making. My late father was landlord at The Reformation during the 1990s and my daughter graduates from RVC later this year. We’d love to eventually see the completed project. Good luck with your endeavours!
